Yeast Infection

Unfortunately, yeast infections are very common in pregnancy (it affects more than 40% of pregnant women). However, it is no fun to have and something we want to get rid of before the big day.

Here's what you can do:

  • Cut out sugar. Yeast feeds off sugar, so you will need to cut out all added sugar in your diet and limit naturally produced sugars as well (think high glycemic fruits like melons, grapes, and bananas).

  • Limit carb intake. Carbs also turn into sugar, so you will mostly be eating vegetables and protein until things clear up. But it's ok! Remember: you can do ANYTHING for a short period of time.

  • Supplements. Stay on top of your Vitamin C, and start taking a probiotic if you aren't already.

  • Tea Tree Oil suppositories can be bought at stores like Sprout's or Whole Foods. Alternatively, you can make your own using coconut oil, tea tree essential oil, and lavender essential oil. Insert once at night before bed. This will NOT interfere with your evening primrose oil, if you are also inserting it at this time.

  • Finally....stay hydrated!
